The Democrats are taking a big gamble by going along with a government shutdown, one that they will probably lose.

The most important reason is that President Trump has a giant megaphone. Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer simply can’t compete in drawing media attention.

What’s more, while some Americans may blame both sides – can’t they act like adults and work out these budget fights? – the Republicans are blaming the "Democrat Party" for triggering the shutdown.

At yesterday’s White House briefing, itself a key advantage, JD Vance and Karoline Leavitt kept repeating, like a mantra, that the Democrats support "healthcare for illegal aliens." That is bunk. They aren’t eligible. It’s already against the law, except in emergency situations. But Trump is pounding that message home through sheer repetition.

VANCE BLAMES SCHUMER'S FEAR OF AOC PRIMARY CHALLENGE AS SHUTDOWN CAUSE

A Washington Post editorial yesterday says "Democrats just marched into a shutdown trap … Progressives embraced the same disastrous mentality that led the House Freedom Caucus to believe it could come out ahead in previous government funding standoffs: They wrongly assumed their political leverage would withstand the ensuing fallout."

A few minutes after the briefing, Hakeem Jeffries stepped before the microphones to declare that Republicans don’t want to provide healthcare "to working-class Americans."

The minority leader said the administration is trying to "jam their extreme right-wing agenda down the throats of the American people … The Republican healthcare crisis is immoral."

Frankly, it just didn’t sound as forceful or have the same impact.

Whatever the immediate toll of the shutdown – military people and hundreds of thousands of civilians not getting paid, food stamps on hold – Vance and Leavitt blamed it on Democratic intransigence. (Those laid off will get back pay once the shutdown ends.)

The vice president said Schumer is moving left because he’s terrified of a primary challenge by AOC. She says her only goal is to "stop this madness."

The president has been more candid, telling reporters: "We can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible, that are bad for them and irreversible by them. Like cutting vast numbers of people out, cutting things that they like, cutting programs that they like." Now that’s transparency.

The Dems don’t hold the moral high ground when it comes to kick-the-can votes to delay a shutdown, having frequently used the tactic when they were in charge. While Vance says they’d be happy to talk about healthcare during a seven-week delay, the other party feels they would lose whatever leverage they have, and it would be politically humiliating.

The Democrats are making a more complicated argument about healthcare, and that’s a tougher sell for the many millions who don’t follow the news closely.

KFF, which is Kaiser, says those on Obamacare would get socked if tax credits are allowed to expire at year’s end. Average premiums next year would be $888, but without the tax credits, would jump to $1,593 – a 114 percent increase.

That would really cripple the Affordable Care Act and knock millions off the rolls.

SOCIAL SECURITY, AIRPORTS, FOOD STAMPS: HOW ARE YOU AFFECTED DURING A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN?

The Dems’ other objection is to deep cuts in Medicaid, despite Trump’s promise to protect the program. But that’s why we have elections. Having lost the House, Senate and White House, the party can’t expect the GOP to make sweeping changes to its preferred budget.

It just so happens – a coincidence, I’m sure – that the administration yesterday halted $18 billion in funding for two major transportation projects in New York City, expansion of the Second Avenue subway and new train tunnels under the Hudson River.

A shot at Schumer’s hometown? Vance says this is a question of "triage," saving money on such projects to preserve essential services.

But it’s really a case of Trump going after Democratic priorities, as he said he would, since he preserved funding for one of his pet projects, the mission of returning to the moon, which seems less than vital at the moment.

What really got Jeffries mad after Monday’s unsuccessful White House meeting was a fake AI image posted by the president. It depicted him as having a handlebar mustache and wearing a huge sombrero, with mariachi music in the background.

Jeffries called the parody "racist" and demanded that the president "say it to my face."

The bottom line, given the atmosphere of mutual distrust, is that this government closure could drag on for awhile. That would gradually boost the pain level, and the Democrats are already at a disadvantage.

At this point the opposition party is trying to show the public that it can fight, and that, beyond the healthcare battle, may be its main message.

Two Canadair jets operated by Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, collided on a taxiway at LaGuardia Airport in New York Wednesday night.

The incident took place at 9:58 p.m. between two Canadair CRJ-900 regional jets.

One was an outbound flight and the other inbound, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

A Delta spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that one flight attendant had suffered a minor injury and was treated by EMTs before being transported to a local hospital as a precaution. No other passengers were injured.

Delta confirmed the incident, describing it as a "low-speed collision" involving Endeavor Air flight 5155 from LaGuardia to Roanoke, Virginia, and Endeavor Air flight 5047 arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina.

"Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi," Delta spokesperson Morgan Durrant said. "Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience."

They have said that preliminary information indicates the departing aircraft’s wing made contact with the fuselage of the arriving aircraft.

Passengers from both planes were deplaned on the taxiway and returned to Terminal C by bus. Delta said customers were provided with food and beverages, as well as with hotel accommodations and rebookings for those whose travel was disrupted.

The Port Authority reported no impact on airport operations. Delta said it will work with the FAA, NTSB and the Port Authority to review what occurred, emphasizing that "safety of our customers and people comes before all else."

A drunken teen allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle with an 11-year-old passenger inside, after flipping over on a highway in Arizona, according to media reports.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday local time after police received a report of a wrong-way driver eastbound on I-40 in Flagstaff, Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) told ABC News.

A deputy spotted the vehicle crossing the median into oncoming lanes before correcting course, then speeding past 100 mph.

The white Chevrolet Silverado, reported stolen earlier from the Flagstaff Police Department, veered onto a guardrail before flipping multiple times and crashing into a tree.

The impact was so violent, investigators said, that the truck’s steering wheel snapped off and landed roughly 50 feet away from the wreck.

Both passengers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, DPS confirmed.

Police noted the girl showed "six out of six signs of intoxication."

A subsequent blood test revealed her blood alcohol concentration was 0.183 more than twice the legal limit for adults and well above Arizona’s zero-tolerance law for underage drivers.

Photos released by DPS show the mangled truck, its roof caved in, and front end twisted against trees, as well as the dislodged steering wheel lying in tall grass.

AZDPS Highway Patrol shared a Facebook post online describing the danger involved.

"We’re thankful the kids are okay, but this could’ve ended way worse. Juvenile joyriding and underage drinking are extremely dangerous," the post read.

Police are seeking the public's help in finding a woman accused of assault near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in Portland, Oregon, after one of its "dialogue liaison officers," sworn officers tasked with "hold[ing] a safe space" for protesters, lost track of her.

Portland Police Bureau officials said that just before 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, a dialogue liaison officer (DLO) was monitoring a "gathering" outside the ICE building in the South Portland neighborhood, when he was flagged down by a person who said an assault had just taken place.

The DLO followed the woman, who was described as a White female with a large septum nose piercing wearing a black mask and carrying a backpack, trying to talk to her to "hear her side of the story," according to a news release from Portland police.

PORTLAND RAMPS UP PRESSURE ON ICE BUILDING WITH LAND USE VIOLATION NOTICE

The woman would not stop, so the DLO told her she was being detained. She allegedly refused the lawful police order, and fled.

The DLO called in additional police resources, and just before 9 p.m., patrol officers met with the victim and began an investigation.

DLOs are sworn police officers, though they act in the role of a liaison and "cannot get involved in enforcement action," according to the release.

Officials said the case has since been assigned to a detective in the Major Crimes Unit, though they did not release any information regarding the alleged assault.

"PPB members continue to conduct follow-up investigations into criminal activity and will forward cases to the Multnomah County District Attorney for prosecution when feasible," according to the release. "Sometimes arrests are not made at the scene when tensions are high, and arrests are made at a later date."

FACIAL RECOGNITION SOFTWARE LEADS TO ARREST OF SUSPECT ACCUSED OF INJURING ICE OFFICER

According to the city's website, DLOs were put in place to "build relationships with protesters" following the violent 2020 protests in Portland.

Officer Jessica Ruch, an exemplary DLO featured on the site, wrote in May 2025 that liaison officers are stationed at protests to "get an idea of what that group is going to need to create or hold a safe space," according to the site.

Ruch admits on the site that she "grew up going to protests," calling them "a celebration of community and values."

"We don’t have a riot squad anymore. That’s an antiquated model. That vocabulary implies that the entire group of protesters has a single mindset," Ruch wrote. "We do have a rapid response team who are trained to respond to potentially hazardous situations like civil disturbances or natural disasters. They come in when they need to address something quickly, and then they get out of there. We don’t want to be the bad guys."

After discussing where she was when George Floyd was murdered, Ruch said her biggest concern was someone driving a car into a gathering "deliberately targeting protesters."

The Portland Police Bureau did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/war-department-pushes-back-false-narrative-internal-strategy-split https://www.foxnews.com/politics/war-department-pushes-back-false-narrative-internal-strategy-split War Department pushes back on 'false' narrative of internal strategy split The Department of War pushes back against reports of senior officer concerns about the National Defense Strategy's development and priorities.

Rejecting reports of a split with the brass, the Department of War says the National Defense Strategy was "seamlessly coordinated" with senior civilian and uniform leaders — and that "any narrative to the contrary is false."

On Monday, The Washington Post reported that multiple senior officers had raised concerns about the forthcoming strategy, pointing to a divide between political leadership.

Deputy Secretary of War Steve Feinberg pushed back on Wednesday, in an on-the-record statement to Fox News Digital.

"The Department’s National Defense Strategy has been seamlessly coordinated with all senior civilian and military leadership with total collaboration — any narrative to the contrary is false," Feinberg said.

RENAMED DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE COMING ‘SOON,' TRUMP SAYS

A senior War Department official said the strategy was the product of "extensive and intensive" collaboration across the department.

The drafting team included a policy lead, a Joint Staff deputy and representatives from the military services who consulted widely with civilian and uniformed offices.

Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby and the acting deputy under-secretary for policy, Austin Dahmer, met with leaders from every group. The official called that level of policy-shop engagement "unprecedented."

SUPPORTERS HAIL TRUMP’S PENTAGON REBRAND AS ‘HONEST,’ CRITICS CALL IT RECKLESS

Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, who chairs the Joint Chiefs of Staff, provided feedback directly to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Colby, the official said, and both assured him his input would be reflected in the final draft.

The Post report said political appointees in the Pentagon policy office led the drafting and described unusually sharp pushback from some commanders over priorities and tone.

The War Department disputes that characterization and says the document was coordinated at the principal level and aligned closely with the National Security Strategy.

The pushback comes a day after Hegseth addressed hundreds of commanders at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

In a 45-minute speech, he argued the force needs tougher standards and a tighter focus on warfighting. He has recalled one-star and above officers from around the world to brief in person and has removed several senior general officers as part of a broader overhaul.

Hegseth says new directives will restore rigorous physical, grooming and leadership standards and require combat roles to meet one set of physical benchmarks.

The Washington Post did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The family of Thomas Jacob Sanford, the shooter who killed four people in an attack on a church in Michigan, says they’ve been overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received from the members of the faith their family member targeted.

As of Wednesday evening, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have collectively raised more than $225,000 for Sanford’s widow and his son, who has a rare genetic disorder that requires costly healthcare.

The fundraising campaign has gone viral, with mostly members of The Church of Jesus Christ from across the globe donating to the family of the man who, according to friends, hated their church, called them "the anti-Christ" and just days ago burned down one of their chapels and killed four of their fellow members.

Katie Hamilton, Sanford’s sister, told Fox News her family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support they’ve received from the Latter-day Saint community.

LDS CHURCH MEMBERS RAISE MORE THAN $140K FOR MICHIGAN SHOOTER'S FAMILY

"I don't have words right now to express when I saw what you as a community have done and remembered us as a family in this situation," she said in a statement shared with Fox News.

David Butler, who launched the GiveSendGo effort, said he was inspired to help the Sanford family because it’s what his faith teaches.

"To be a follower of Jesus Christ is caring for people who can't care for themselves," Butler said.

MICHIGAN CHURCH SHOOTER'S ROMANCE HISTORY EMERGES AS SUSPECT'S FATHER APOLOGIZES TO VICTIMS' FAMILIES

The science fiction and fantasy author, who lives in Utah and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said he saw GoFundMe pages for the other victims of Sunday’s attack, but not for Sanford’s wife and son.

"They certainly didn't choose this. They certainly didn't want this to happen. And they’re victims, too."

The fundraiser has resonated with many, Butler said, because it was an act of forgiveness after "this man did a terrible thing." He added that it also underscores the family is not to blame and still needs help.

WHO IS THOMAS JACOB SANFORD? WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE SUSPECTED MICHIGAN CHURCH GUNMAN

"I think people want to love. People want to forgive," Butler said.

Many donations included messages of encouragement for the Sanford family.

One message read, "We deeply know what it is like to be hated while just trying to do good. Our Church and community will not do that to Sister Sanford. We will pray for you and welcome you with open arms, just like Jesus taught us."

MICHIGAN CHURCHES LOCK DOORS, POST GUARDS AFTER DEADLY ATTACK ROCKS GRAND BLANC COMMUNITY

Another read, "You are loved. And this was not your fault. May you find healing, strength and peace."

A third message highlighted the Latter-day Saints, saying the church is "praying for hope and healing for you and your community in the aftermath of this tragedy."

Donations ranged up to $5,000, Butler said, with the average gift at $40.

While the response to the fundraiser has been largely positive, the effort has drawn some minor criticism from some for supporting the killer’s family instead of his victims, but Butler said it was never about choosing one side over the other.

"It’s wanting the Sanford family not to be left behind. I don’t believe those kids are guilty. And I think their father has made a decision that will make their lives very, very difficult," Butler said. "They deserve help like any other innocent person does."

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/how-mikie-sherrills-family-made-millions-after-she-elected-congress https://www.foxnews.com/politics/how-mikie-sherrills-family-made-millions-after-she-elected-congress How Mikie Sherrill’s family made millions after she was elected to Congress Mikie Sherrill faces growing scrutiny as her personal wealth increased significantly during her time in Congress, making her one of New Jersey's richest lawmakers.

New Jersey gubernatorial hopeful Mikie Sherrill has become one of the Garden State’s richest lawmakers in Congress six years after getting elected to Washington — buoyed by a portfolio of luxe properties, millions in stock and a banker husband who earns more than $2 million per year.

Republican Jack Ciattarelli and his allies have pummeled Sherrill (D-NJ) over her finances — accusing her of "flipping stocks and cashing in" since being elected to high office.

"In the seven years that she’s been in Congress, she’s tripled her net worth!" Ciattarelli said during their fiery clash at last week’s debate.

SHERRILL FIRES BACK AT GOP RIVAL AS QUESTIONS SWIRL OVER HER MILITARY RECORDS: 'HAND IN THE COOKIE JAR'

"While you were sitting on the House Armed Services Committee, you were trading defense stocks," he went on.

Sherrill has denied that claim, saying she does not own individual stocks — though a mealy-mouthed response to the question about her net worth from "The Breakfast Club" host Charlamagne tha God has only fanned the flames.

A peek at Sherrill’s financial disclosures contradicts some of the attacks Ciattarelli and his allies have made on the campaign trail about her net worth — and suggests her impressive wealth growth comes from a variety of sources.

"Mikie does not own or trade individual stocks, and has gone ‘above and beyond’ releasing the exact values of her finances to the dollar," Sherrill campaign communications director Sean Higgins told The Post.

"New Jerseyans have zero insight into Jack Ciattarelli’s net worth, they do know he made $15 million in profits off opioid misinformation and investments linked to the Chinese Communist Party."

The frequently cited $7 million figure stems from a Washington Free Beacon analysis that used the average of a range of values provided in congressional financial disclosures.

In 2019, Sherrill’s net worth would’ve been between $730,000 and $4.3 million, per her House financial disclosure records. By 2024, it jumped to between $4.8 million and $14 million.

DEM GUBERNATORIAL NOMINEE HIT WITH ACCUSATIONS OF NEPOTISM OVER CHILDREN'S ACCEPTANCE INTO NAVAL ACADEMY

Additionally, that analysis looked at all her assets, not just stocks. And a key reason why her net worth jumped so sharply in that analysis is that she added a Washington, DC, townhouse, purchased in a tony neighborhood in 2021 for $1.5 million.

As Ciattarelli noted, Sherrill was forced to pay a $400 fee in 2021 for STOCK Act violations, after blowing past a 45-day deadline to disclose her husband’s stock trades — something that is not uncommon in Congress.

The Garden State Democrat’s net worth is somewhere between $9.4 million and $14.61 million.

Quiver Quantitative, which provides estimates for most members of Congress, pegged Sherrill’s fortune at $14.61 million, which would place her just behind Rep. Josh Gottheimer’s (D-NJ) $42.19 million net worth as the second-richest Garden State pol in Washington.

An August analysis by the New Jersey Globe pegged her and her husband’s net worth at $9.4 million.

Most of Sherrill’s fortune stems from her banker husband, Jason Hedberg.

Hedberg gets partially compensated through stocks from UBS, which they frequently sell off, according to financial disclosures.

He has raked in more than $2.6 million each year since 2021 — topping out at $2.9 million last year. For comparison, Sherrill’s congressional salary is $174,000.

Shortly after taking office, Sherrill began offloading individual stocks in favor of exchange-traded funds to mitigate conflict-of-interest concerns.

MIKIE SHERRILL STAYS SILENT AS NEW JERSEY POLITICIANS REACT TO CONVICTED COP KILLER'S DEATH

She had $4.4 million in her brokerage account, and her husband reportedly had $1.9 million in unvested stocks. The pair also had about $1.5 million between their checking accounts, retirement accounts and life insurance policies.

The New Jersey Democrat’s investment portfolio fared 1.9% worse than the S&P 500, according to insider trading watchdog Unusual Whales.

Sherrill and her husband also own three homes: a large mansion in wealthy Montclair, a vacation home in Vermont, and the Washington, DC, townhouse.

Zillow records indicate that her Montclair home is worth about $3 million, her vacation home is about $780,000, and her DC home, which she once rented to former Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.), was pegged at $1.6 million.

Records indicate those three homes have mortgages on them.

At least two of her children went to the tony Montclair Kimberly Academy, which has tuition as high as $53,340 annually.

Following pressure from Sherrill’s allies to release more of his tax documentation, the Ciattarelli campaign let media outlets examine 13 years of his tax returns.

While his net worth isn’t fully clear, tax records show that he has raked in close to $14.9 million since 2012 and paid at least $4 million in taxes, the New Jersey Monitor reported.

Ciattarelli, a former state assemblyman, had made his fortune off two medical publication businesses, one of which he sold in 2017, the same year he made $7.1 million in total income, per the outlet.

Tax records showed that his income fluctuated throughout the years, from $600,946 in 2014 to $854,966 in 2018 and $168,433 in 2022, according to the report.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/speaker-johnson-blames-house-dems-terribly-selfish-government-shutdown https://www.foxnews.com/media/speaker-johnson-blames-house-dems-terribly-selfish-government-shutdown Speaker Johnson blames House Dems for 'terribly selfish' government shutdown Johnson criticized Dems for rejecting a spending measure and attempting to undo Medicaid reforms, calling the move a “terribly selfish decision" that leaves Americans paying the price.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson defended Republicans' handling of the government shutdown and squarely blamed Democrats for what he described as a "terribly selfish decision" during an interview with "Special Report."

"We were simply trying to buy time," Johnson said. "Working through the process, we ran out of time. We need seven more weeks."

Johnson claimed House Democrats blocked the GOP’s continuing resolution (CR) — a short-term funding measure meant to keep the government open — and instead pushed forward a "dirty CR" championed by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

WHITE HOUSE DECLARES IMMINENT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN AFTER SENATE FAILS TO PASS FUNDING BILL

"We put a clean CR on the table, assuming that everybody, all the Democrats, would do the right thing," Johnson added. "They've rejected it. Now, three times, as of today, the Senate Democrats — 44 of them — have voted the clean CR down, and they proposed Chuck Schumer's version, which is a dirty CR."

REPUBLICANS ERUPT OVER SHUTDOWN CHAOS, ACCUSE DEMS OF HOLDING GOVERNMENT ‘HOSTAGE’

He went further, alleging that Democrats didn’t even read the bill they presented.

"They don't understand what they filed," Johnson insisted.

The Louisiana representative torched the Democrats' proposal, saying it would "entirely" repeal health care reforms enacted by Trump’s "big, beautiful bill" and add trillions of dollars in spending for a seven-week stop-gap measure.

"They want to give health care to illegal aliens, claw back the funds that we put in for rural hospitals and all sorts of other mayhem," Johnson said. "We can't do that. We're just not going to do it."

One of the provisions Johnson emphasized was Medicaid reform, which he said the Trump administration strengthened by ensuring that only eligible recipients would get coverage.

Johnson said "2.3 million illegal recipients for Medicaid will be pushed off the rolls because of our reforms. And it's going to save $185 billion of taxpayer funds," he said. "They [Democrats] want to return all those ineligible people back to the rolls."

Despite Democrats blocking the GOP funding bill three times, Johnson maintained the measure was largely nonpartisan.

"I could have loaded this up with all sorts of partisan provisions," he said. "But we didn't do that because we're operating in good faith, and we want our partners on the other side of the aisle to go along with us so that the appropriators can go and debate all these issues. That's how the system works, and they're preventing it."

Chris Towner, policy director for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, described the Republican proposal as "just about as clean of a CR as you could get."

The current government shutdown is the first since 2018, when the federal government closed for 35 days, the longest in U.S. history. When Johnson was asked how long he believed the closure would last this time around, he said he hopes for a quick resolution.

Billionaire Elon Musk joined a growing campaign to cancel Netflix after the creator of a pro-transgender cartoon for children allegedly condemned activist Charlie Kirk following his death.

The Netflix series "Dead End: Paranormal Park" has faced renewed scrutiny after being flagged by the conservative account Libs of TikTok.

"OMG. 'Dead End Paranormal Park,' a show on Netflix, is pushing pro-transgender on CHILDREN. This show is advertised for 7-YEAR-OLDS," the account posted. "Parents – BEWARE."

The clip of the cartoon that went viral showed an overweight, blue-haired character coming out as trans to another character. Musk responded to the clip, writing, "This is not ok."

CHARLIE KIRK WARNED ‘ASSASSINATION CULTURE IS SPREADING ON THE LEFT’ IN EERIE ONLINE POST MONTHS BEFORE MURDER

The controversy deepened after purported screenshots surfaced of the show’s creator, Hamish Steele, who identifies as "he/they/whatever," allegedly calling Kirk a "Nazi" after his death and criticizing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for mourning Kirk. The claims fueled backlash, and some conservatives renewed calls to cancel Netflix.

On the day of Kirk’s death, Starmer wrote, "My thoughts this evening are with the loved ones of Charlie Kirk. It is heartbreaking that a young family has been robbed of a father and a husband. We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear – there can be no justification for political violence."

According to a screenshot, Steele allegedly replied, "Why the f--- are you even commenting on this, dickhead? You [sic] sympathy for any of the families being slaughtered by your weapons but a random Nazi gets shot and it’s a public statement. You’re such a f------ evil s---."

As of publication, Steele’s tweets are no longer visible, but the claims fueled calls from some subscribers to cancel Netflix.

MAHER PRAISES CONSERVATIVES LIKE KIRK FOR PROMOTING DIALOGUE, CONDEMNS FAR LEFT FOR CELEBRATING HIS DEATH

After one user claimed to cancel a Netflix account, apparently referencing Steele’s alleged comments, Musk replied, "Same."

Steele later denied celebrating Kirk’s death, writing. "My Instagram comments are now flooded with replies saying I AM CHARLIE KIRK and that I celebrated his death (which I never did) and all I can think of is Yvie Oddley shouting 'WHAT HAS THAT GOT TO DO WITH ANYTHING?'"

He also disputed claims that Netflix is actively promoting the show, saying, "It's all lies and slander! Netflix is NOT promoting at the moment!"

"Dead End Paranormal Park" aired for two seasons on Netflix and ended in 2022.

Fox News Digital reached out to Steele and Netflix for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

San Diego Padres star reliever Mason Miller made MLB postseason history on Wednesday night in an effort to keep his team’s season alive.

The Padres needed a win in Game 2 of their Wild Card series against the Chicago Cubs after losing Game 1 on Tuesday afternoon in the Windy City, and they leaned on the star-studded bullpen to get the job done.

Miller was among those as he pitched nearly two innings, but it was his ninth pitch of the night that rewrote the MLB record books. The flame-throwing righty threw a 104.5 mph fastball to strike out Cubs catcher Carson Kelly.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

That pitch wasn’t just the fastest Miller has thrown in his career, but it’s also the fastest pitch in the postseason since pitching track in 2008, according to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs.

It was an incredible outing by Miller, who struck out all five of the batters he faced over 1.2 innings of work. In all, he’s seen seven batters in this Wild Card series, and he’s set all of them down by strikeout.

BASEBALL FAN GOES VIRAL FOR WORKING ON LAPTOP DURING CUBS' WIN OVER BREWERS

The Padres went with Robert Suarez, another stud right-hander, for the final four outs in the 3-0 victory that brings this postseason bout to a decisive Game 3 on Thursday in Chicago.

San Diego’s offense saw a jolt thanks to veteran third baseman Manny Machado, who belted a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning to pull ahead after one run scored by the Padres in the first inning.

The Padres’ pitching staff held the Cubs to just four scattered hits in this game, as Dylan Cease went 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and striking out five over his 69-pitch outing.

It may have been short, but that’s what happens when you have the arms San Diego does in the bullpen. Adrian Morejon went 2.1 innings without allowing a hit before Miller came in.

More of the same should be expected in a do-or-die game, though the ball will first go to the veteran Yu Darvish. The Cubs will turn to Jameson Taillon to start Game 3.

Kim Kardashian was left terrified after learning someone put out a hit on her life.

"I got a call from investigators," Kim revealed in the trailer for the next season of "The Kardashians."

"Someone extremely close to me put a hit out on my life," the 44-year-old mom of four told the camera during a confessional.

KIM KARDASHIAN'S FAME COULD SWAY JURY IN PARIS ROBBERY TRIAL AGAINST 'GRANDPA ROBBERS': EXPERT

The entire family — Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner and even Rob Kardashian — seem to make an appearance in trailer for Season 7, which will premiere Oct. 23.

"Everyone’s kind of on edge," Kendall said while sitting with the family.

"I heard footsteps walking into my room," Kylie recalled.

In a voice-over, Kim can be heard saying, "I’m terrified out of my mind."

The trailer then cuts to the "American Horror Story" actress in a confessional.

"I’m happy it’s over," she told the camera.

Fox News Digital reached out to Kim's representative for additional comment.

The trailer also gave fans a glimpse into Kim's Paris robbery court case.

"Do you think we really should walk in there with all the diamonds on?" Kris can be heard asking as the two seemingly get ready to head to the courthouse.

Kim took the stand to testify in May.

"I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me," she recalled on the stand. "I absolutely did think I was going to die."

On Oct. 3, 2016, the intruders allegedly disguised themselves as police officers with ski masks as they broke into her room at the No Address Hotel, tied up the reality star and placed her in the bathtub while they stole various jewelry pieces, including her $4 million engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West.

The group who robbed Kardashian was known as the "grandpa robbers" due to their age. More than 17 people were arrested as suspects in the case after investigators found trace amounts of DNA on plastic bands tied around Kardashian's wrists. The case was finally ordered to go on trial in 2021 with 12 people charged.

The ringleader of the group and seven others were found guilty on May 23.

Nicole Kidman filing for divorce from Keith Urban sent shockwaves among fans, and now there are rumors swirling there may be a new woman in the country star’s life.

An insider told Fox News Digital that they have heard whispers of another woman.

TMZ was first to report that Urban may already be involved with another woman, with a source close to Kidman saying, "All the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman. Let's just say Nicole doesn't dispute that, but she's still shocked over it."

Another source claimed to the outlet the news of Urban's rumored new fling is "all over Nashville."

NICOLE KIDMAN FILES FOR DIVORCE FROM KEITH URBAN CITING 'MARITAL DIFFICULTIES'

People magazine reported that Kidman feels "very betrayed" by her marriage of 19 years coming to an end.

"Nicole's hurt and feels betrayed. It's devastating to her. She's shocked," a source told the outlet.

On Sept. 30, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban, ending 19 years of marriage. She cited "irreconcilable differences" and ongoing "marital difficulties," according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Kidman listed Sept. 30 as the couple’s date of separation.

Although Kidman and Urban's split may seem sudden to fans, those close to the couple said it was a long time coming.

It "really hasn’t been a secret," a source told People, adding they "have been living separately for a while now."

"People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable," the source claimed.

Insiders close to the couple said they had already been living separate lives, emotionally and physically, for some time.

"Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall," another source told the outlet.

In the divorce filing, the "Big Little Lies" star asked to be named the primary residential parent of the couple’s two daughters.

She also requested the court approve a parenting plan that would give her 306 days a year with the children, leaving 59 days annually with Urban. Kidman and Urban share two daughters: Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

The Oscar-winning actress first met Urban in 2005 at an event in Australia. One year later, the couple married in Sydney.

https://www.foxnews.com/health/embryos-human-skin-dna-women-kids-scientist https://www.foxnews.com/health/embryos-human-skin-dna-women-kids-scientist Skin DNA breakthrough could let 60-year-old women have genetically related kids Researchers developed an experimental method to convert skin cells into eggs, potentially allowing older women and same-sex couples to have genetically related children.

Women in their 60s and 70s could theoretically one day give birth to genetically related children, according to scientists pioneering a breakthrough technique that converts DNA from skin cells into human eggs capable of producing embryos.

Researchers at Oregon Health and Science University created early-stage human embryos from DNA taken from skin cells and fertilized them with sperm.

Although in its infancy, the experimental technique, described in a new study, could open possibilities for older women who have run out of eggs and also same-sex couples who want children genetically related to both partners.

While some experts caution the work is still in early stages, they predict that, if successful, the technology could be ready for clinical use within 10 to 15 years.

SPERM DONOR'S GENETIC MUTATION LINKED TO CANCER IN 10 CONCEIVED CHILDREN

Dr. Paulo Amato, a reproductive endocrinologist and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, told Fox News Digital the discovery and the study were promising.

"It is very preliminary work at this stage, but if it were to be successful, it would offer hope for couples and people suffering from infertility, particularly older women who have run out of eggs," said Amato, who co-authored and co-investigated the recent study.

Amato cautioned that even if the method works, carrying a pregnancy at an advanced age poses significant health risks.

"We still have to keep in mind that somebody has to carry that pregnancy," she said. "So, we're not necessarily advocating for women in their 60s and 70s to be carrying pregnancies, but, theoretically, they could have a child that is genetically related. I would predict this to be in 10 to 15 years, at least."

WORLD ATHLETICS INTRODUCES TESTING FOR GENDER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 'CANNOT TRUMP BIOLOGY'

The experimental procedure begins with the nucleus of a skin cell, which contains the DNA.

Scientists remove that nucleus and insert it into a donor egg that has had its own nucleus stripped away.

The egg is then triggered to discard half of its chromosomes, reducing them from 46 to 23.

This makes it compatible for fertilization with sperm, which adds the other 23 chromosomes.

If successful, the resulting embryo is genetically normal and can be transferred into a uterus to begin pregnancy.

MEN FACE DOUBLE DEMENTIA RISK IF THEY HAVE A HIDDEN GENETIC MUTATION

The technique could also help women who've had previous cancer therapy or transform family planning for same-sex couples.

"It would potentially allow for same-sex couples to have a child that's genetically related to both partners," Amato explained.

"Usually, they have to use eggs from a donor. With this technology, we could use a skin cell from one partner to create an egg, fertilize it with sperm from the other and produce a baby genetically related to both.

"This is preliminary work, and there's a lot we need to understand before it is ready," Amato stressed.

"All the embryos we created were actually genetically abnormal, with too many or too few chromosomes. We have a lot of work to do."

Podcaster Joe Rogan criticized the American media for focusing on late-night host Jimmy Kimmel instead of what he called a dangerous erosion of free speech in the United Kingdom.

Kimmel’s comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin led to his show being briefly suspended, sparking a wave of backlash as an example of censorship.

Rogan argued that focusing on a single talk-show host was a distraction from what he described as the U.K. and Europe’s crackdown on speech. The British government has faced criticism for its proposed digital ID mandate, which detractors warn could be used for government control.

Rogan pointed to the reported 12,000 arrests a year for social media posts in the U.K. "The fact that our mainstream media is relatively silent on this is insane," Rogan said. "You're seeing a complete total attack on one of the most fundamental principles of the Western world, which is your ability to express yourself…"

JOE ROGAN SHOCKED ON-AIR BY CHARLIE KIRK’S DEATH, LAMENTS LOSS OF 'REASONABLE' LEADER WHO PROMOTED OPEN DEBATE

"These people are not calling for violence," Rogan added. "They're being arrested for wild things. People are being arrested for liking posts. Some people were investigated for viewing posts. Twelve thousand people arrested by the police in the U.K., the same place that just implemented digital ID. I mean, this is an Orwell nightmare coming to life right in front of our face, and no one's flinching."

He argued that Americans are more outraged about talk-show commentary than the loss of civil liberties in the English-speaking world.

BRACE FOR A 'POLITICAL REVOLUTION' IN EUROPE, UK'S NIGEL FARAGE SAYS AFTER VANCE'S SPEECH IN MUNICH

"No one in America is freaking out about what's happening in the UK at all. I mean, you get people online that are kind of freaked out by it, but they're way more freaked out by nonsensical things like whether or not what Jimmy Kimmel said in his monologue was offensive," he said.

Rogan argued that the Kimmel controversy gave Americans the illusion of power while governments abroad quietly expanded their control. He compared the British government’s restrictions to a wrestling "choke hold," saying citizens risk losing their basic freedoms. The U.K. has been sharply divided over free speech in recent years, especially on issues such as mass migration and gender ideology.

Some of those divisions surfaced during the "Unite the Kingdom" rally in London, which drew tens of thousands of protesters on Sept. 13, 2025, waving Union Jack and St. George’s flags near Parliament.

Two teen girls were killed in a hit-and-run incident in New Jersey with a 17-year-old boy facing murder charges, according to prosecutors.

The two teen girls were riding an electric bike when the unnamed 17-year-old allegedly struck and killed them both on Monday at around 5:26 p.m., according to the Union County Prosecutor's office. The teen girls were identified as Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, according to CBS.

Authorities said the teen girls were pronounced dead after arriving at area hospitals.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old male from Garwood, New Jersey, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Police said the suspect was driving a 2021 black Jeep Compass at the time of the alleged murders.

The New York Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that a detective was suspended without pay after pretending to be a part of President Donald Trump’s security detail to sneak into the Ryder Cup.

According to the New York Post, Det. Melvin Eng attended the biennial tournament at Bethpage Black on Friday, the same day Trump and his granddaughter, aspiring golfer Kai, attended the event.

The Post said Eng was out on sick leave but arrived at the Long Island golf course in full tactical gear.

Eng is now facing administrative charges for theft of services.

Eng was in the clear until he dropped his magazine in front of working security.

One police source told the Post that Eng "got in there with his gun, past Secret Service, past the state police."

Friday was the first of three days of the tournament, with tee-off at 7:10 a.m. ET. Fans were implored to arrive as early as possible to the event due to TSA-like screening because of Trump’s attendance.

Trump walked to his seat ahead of the Friday afternoon session, where he was acknowledged by numerous members of both teams. Team USA captain Keegan Bradley even did the vintage Trump dance.

When Bryson DeChambeau was paired with Ben Griffin, he and Trump shook hands and walked to the first tee together. Trump was featured on DeChambeau's YouTube channel last year.

The Europeans won the event, 15-13, largely in part to dominance on Friday and Saturday. They entered Sunday singles leading 11.5-4.5, but the Americans gave a valiant effort for a miraculous comeback.

It was not enough, though, and Europe became the first team to win a Ryder Cup on the road since they did so in 2012. It was also the first time since Europe won three straight from 2010 to 2014 that a team won back-to-back Ryder Cups.

Nancy Mace addresses Turning Point USA gathering at Clemson University to honor his legacy.

EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., vowed to stand fearlessly with young conservatives in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination — a tragedy that sparked national outrage and led to three Clemson professors being fired after allegedly celebrating his death.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital ahead of her address Wednesday at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) gathering at Clemson University in South Carolina, Mace said she and other conservative leaders will continue speaking in public to honor the late TPUSA founder's legacy, noting, "we're not going to be afraid."

The South Carolina gubernatorial candidate's public appearance comes less than a month after Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, leaving behind his wife, Erika, and two young children.

SHOCK AND RESOLVE: STUDENTS REFLECT ON CHARLIE KIRK’S DEATH, FUTURE OF CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT

"I want all of our young people across South Carolina and the country to know that we are with them, that we are all Charlie Kirk and that they will be supported — that we aren't going to allow anyone, or any political violence, to stop this movement or this moment," Mace said.

"We are doing this for Charlie Kirk. We're doing this for Turning Point. We're doing this for the millions of Charlie Kirks that are now out there today, who want to carry the torch forward, and we're not going to be afraid," she added. "We're going to continue to do these things in public. We're going to respect and honor free speech and our faith, and we're going to do it as publicly and valiantly as we can."

Following Kirk's killing, Fox Digital reported young conservatives were harassed at on-campus memorials, as professors across the country faced firings over insensitive public posts condoning the activist's murder.

At Clemson alone, three professors were terminated after allegedly celebrating Kirk's death.

Mace said young members of the Clemson College Republicans and the Clemson TPUSA chapter worked together to ensure the public, elected officials and President Donald Trump were aware of the professors' comments, and were instrumental in booting them from campus.

UNIVERSITIES CRACK DOWN ON EMPLOYEE SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS CELEBRATING, DEFENDING KIRK'S DEATH

"They made a difference where it mattered, because those who are promoting murder, inciting murder, shouldn't be teaching our kids. Regardless of your politics or what your beliefs are, you shouldn't be near students or indoctrinating them," she said. "There are hundreds, if not thousands, of students on every campus across the country who are with you. When we speak up in numbers, we can't be defeated."

She added her message to parents concerned about leftist indoctrination on college campuses is one of hope.

"I have never been more proud and had more confidence in a generation than I do today, because these young men and women have stepped up in the wake of Charlie Kirk's tragic murder, and they have stepped up to fill in the gap, and it is an inspiration," Mace said.

The university also came under fire in April after Mace revealed Clemson had a health portal form that listed 15 gender identity options, excluding male and female.

Though the form was eventually taken down, Mace noted school officials "deflected any and all blame."

"I expect better than that, and even when these professors came forward, we saw a slow response from Clemson," she said. "Luckily, the Board of Trustees held an emergency meeting and did the right thing, so we are going to have to continue to have eyes on and put pressure on Clemson to do the right thing."

Mace said amid the chaos, it is important lawmakers and the courts step in to protect free speech, and continue to honor Kirk's mission.

"The First Amendment is a right established by our founders, and when we need to step in, we should absolutely do that," she said. "That's what you saw happen in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination. You saw lawmakers step up, come forward, and protect the free speech of students on campuses everywhere."

A short week was not kind to the San Francisco 49ers, and the team will be without key offensive pieces, including quarterback Brock Purdy, against the Los Angeles Rams on "Thursday Night Football."

Wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings will also be unavailable for the 49ers Thursday night.

Purdy missed Weeks 2 and 3 after suffering a toe injury in the season opener but returned in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. During the 26-21 loss, Purdy’s toe injury flared up again.

Mac Jones will make his third start of the season.

He filled in for Purdy in the previous games, completing 66% of his passes for 563 yards with four touchdowns and one interception over that span. The 49ers won both of those games.

49ERS LOSE STAR NICK BOSA FOR REMAINDER OF 2025 SEASON WITH TORN ACL: REPORTS

Jones is also dealing with a knee injury, but the 49ers said he was a full practice participant on all three of their injury reports this week. He has no game status heading into Thursday night.

Jennings is battling ankle and rib injuries, while Pearsall has been limited by a knee issue. The 49ers will turn to receivers Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson, the latter of whom made his season debut last week after serving a suspension.

San Francisco will also be without receiver Jordan Watkins (calf) and defensive end Robert Beal (ankle), while defensive tackle CJ West (thumb) is questionable.

This is already a pivotal game in the NFC West race, with both teams entering at 3-1 in the first of two matchups this season. The Rams bounced back last week with a win after a crushing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, when two blocked field goals sealed the defeat.

Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ offense have thrived, and the addition of Davante Adams to play alongside Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams has led to the fourth-most yards per game in the league this season.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan will have to lean on star running back Christian McCaffrey and the accuracy of Jones to keep the Rams from pulling away.

EXCLUSIVE: Recent Russian incursions into NATO airspace have sharpened divisions inside the alliance over how to respond, exposing both the strength and the limits of collective defense.

Secretary General Mark Rutte clashed with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal last week after Estonia invoked NATO’s Article 4 clause, which triggers consultations when a member feels its security is threatened.

According to three European officials granted anonymity to speak freely, Rutte argued that repeated invocations risked diluting the treaty’s force. One source said he even raised his voice at Michal, warning that NATO must be cautious about how often it signals alarm.

Rutte argued that if Article 4 were invoked every time Russia violated sovereignty — through drone incursions, fighter jets, cyberattacks and more — it would quickly lose impact, according to the officials.

DENMARK CONSIDERS TRIGGERING NATO ARTICLE 4 AFTER DRONES FLY OVER AIRPORTS

A NATO spokesperson confirmed Rutte and Michal spoke Friday and said the secretary general "has supported Estonia throughout the process."

Rasmus Ruuda, director of the Government Communication Office of Estonia, told Fox News Digital Rutte "expressed support for Estonia and the Prime Minister thanked NATO for its actions."

"Article 4 is just a signal that we’re taking note of what happened," said Giedrimas Jeglinskas, a Lithuanian member of parliament and former NATO assistant secretary general. "We can be invoking Article 4 every week, and I think that only weakens us, because we're unable to truly respond to that aggression that Russia is sort of throwing at us."

The tension comes after a series of provocative moves by Moscow. Last month, missile-carrying Russian MiG-29s flew into Estonian territory, following an earlier breach of Polish airspace by 19 drones and repeated incursions over Romania. In Poland, jets scrambled to intercept the drones, shooting some of them down. It marked the first time since World War II that Polish armed forces mobilized to engage an airborne threat over their homeland.

The Russian jets in Estonia were eventually escorted out of its territory by Italian F-35s. Estonia’s Article 4 request followed Poland’s own invocation days earlier, prompting another round of consultations in Brussels.

Since its creation in 1949, Article 4 has been triggered only nine times. NATO’s warning to Russia after the Estonian request was blunt: any further breaches would be met with "all means" of defense. Estonia's defense minister said his nation was prepared to shoot down Russian planes violating airspace "if there is a need."

But Jeglinskas said signaling without consequence risks leaving the alliance trapped.

"We’re happy to do Article 4 every other day, but so what? What’s next?" he said. "The real question is what happens when the jets actually enter our airspace."

The debate cuts to a deeper question: what constitutes a "need" to shoot down Russian jets? How can Russia be deterred without stumbling into direct war?

"The last thing we want is to have NATO get drawn into a war with Russia," a senior State Department official told Fox News Digital. "God knows how that ends."

"Almost all wars … they don't necessarily start with a big bang," the official went on. "They start with an escalation, and then somebody feels they need to respond to this, and then you just get in a toxic spiral."

'PUTIN IS PUSHING THE LIMITS’: EASTERN ALLIES WARN TRUMP NOT TO PULL US TROOPS

The United States has promised to defend "every inch" of NATO while pressing Europe to bear more of its own defense burden. Washington’s mixed signals have only complicated matters.

Trump administration officials long favored reducing the U.S. troop presence in Europe. But President Donald Trump recently delivered one of the starkest warnings to Moscow, declaring that NATO states should shoot Russian aircraft down if they incur on their territory.

Jeglinskas said the statement resonated across the Baltic States. "What was really helpful was that President Trump was very clear," he said. "That gives us confidence we’re on the right track, and we really appreciate the support."

Still, allies remain divided on whether to escalate. Some warn that Eastern Europe cannot credibly threaten retaliation without an American security guarantee. Others argue that deterrence depends on showing Russia its incursions carry a cost.

"If we really want to send a proper message of deterrence to Russia, we need to be prepared to use kinetic force," Jeglinskas said. "That means neutralizing those jets — shooting them down or finding other ways to impose consequences — so Russia actually feels the cost of its incursions. That hasn’t happened yet, and it leaves us vulnerable."

The airspace disputes now extend beyond fighter jets. European Union members are meeting in Copenhagen this week to discuss shoring up air defenses after a wave of drone sightings. Denmark briefly shut down its airspace following mysterious drone activity, while Lithuania’s Vilnius airport and Norway’s Oslo airport also reported disruptions. Drones have even been spotted over Germany’s northern state of Schleswig-Holstein.

"We are not at war, but we are no longer at peace either. We must do much more for our own security," German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said in Düsseldorf.

NATO jets scrambled to intercept drones over Poland, but the response underscored a growing mismatch: deploying multi-million dollar fighters to counter small, unmanned aircraft is neither efficient nor sustainable.

RUSSIA SHIFTS FROM TALK TO ACTION, TARGETING NATO HOMELAND AMID FEARS OF GLOBAL WAR

"NATO remains the most crucial element of our security equation," Jeglinskas said. "It’s the backbone through which our security is viewed. There’s really no doubt about NATO’s political will and its capability to defend its territory, but warfare is changing — and the question now is, has NATO adapted to the new way of war that is seeping through the borders of Ukraine?"

Jeglinskas warned that neither NATO nor the Baltic States have done enough. "The Polish incursion signified that NATO is not fully ready to counter these threats," he said. "Scrambling jets is a tremendous economic mismatch. If these kinds of attacks become swarms, it’s not sustainable."

To address mounting threats, NATO last month launched Operation Eastern Sentry, reinforcing its presence on Europe’s eastern flank. Jeglinskas welcomed the move but said gaps remain.

"Jets are very important, but more jets don’t mean we’re more secure from low-altitude drones," he said. "The question is: do we have sensors that can detect what’s happening from the ground up to a kilometer into our airspace? We don’t see that. It’s like a dead space."

Jeglinskas called for stronger short- and medium-range radar, as well as layered defenses akin to Israel’s Iron Dome, capable of intercepting drones with both kinetic and electronic means.

"NATO’s response is commendable," he said, "but it’s not enough. You need technical know-how, the right capabilities, and systems that are truly integrated if you want to make this work."

For now, NATO remains caught between signaling resolve and acting on it. As Russia continues to test the alliance’s borders, Jeglinskas and other Eastern European officials warn that credibility is at stake. The next incursion, they argue, may demand more than words.

Though Hilaria Baldwin is living out her dream on "Dancing with the Stars," she's often faced with challenges behind the scenes.

After Tuesday's episode of the dance competition show, the yoga instructor and mom of seven opened up about the life she's built with husband Alec Baldwin and explained why she sometimes finds it difficult to live in the public eye.

"Meeting [Alec] when I was 27 years old and entering a world that I was completely not prepared for," Hilaria — who briefly addressed an awkward moment when she scolded Alec on a red carpet earlier this year during the pre-dance package — said about being thrown into the spotlight. "When I share that kind of emotion, I never want it to be that I'm not grateful and not understanding of the amazing privilege and wonderful things that I have. But some of it is hard."

"And it's when I'm in my room alone and I cry. You know what I mean?" she continued. "It's like a lot of it is hard because, you know, you get a lot of different opinions. And I take those in because I care."

HILARIA BALDWIN WARNS 'DANCING WITH THE STARS' HUNK SHE CAN'T BE OFFENDED AS ALEC'S ABSENCE RAISES QUESTIONS

"I have stood by [Alec] and, you know, made our family for the past 12, 15 years I've known him," she added. "And our oldest is 12. And I am just very happy that they are here to make this dream of mine come true. And I look out into the audience and I see them. And I saw Kris Jenner, who is a dear friend of mine … it's just such a wonderful feeling to have that kind of support."

IRELAND BALDWIN CALLS HILARIA 'BAT S--- CRAZY' BUT CREDITS HER WITH SAVING DAD ALEC’S LIFE

After a successful performance of the samba to the viral song "Shake it to the Max" with partner Gleb Savchenko, Alec was seen cheering from the sidelines, along with their seven children.

When it was announced that Hilaria had made it through to the next week, Alec cheered and hugged one of their kids in celebration.

In a TikTok video posted by the ABC show, Alec sang his wife’s praises as he posed a question to Jenner.

"You know a thing or two about beautiful talented women. How’s my wife doing?" he asked.

Jenner replied, "She’s getting a 10 from me. All the time! Any woman who can be doing this having had seven kids is an ace in my book."

"Go, Hilaria," Alec added as he clapped his hands.

Earlier this year, Hilaria admitted she never got used to the backlash after facing public scrutiny following her heritage scandal five years ago.

"Being in the spotlight, as people like to call it, people say, 'Oh, don't you get used to it?' No, you don't get used to it," she said during an episode of "The Baldwins."

"You never get used to people being mean. But you take a deep breath, and I think you learn to distance yourself from it, and so, you know, you just try turning down the volume in my head a bit… and I'm not gonna take it personally."

Since her "DWTS" journey started, however, Hilaria has really leaned into her creativity and has felt Alec's support along the way.

"It's such a dream to have my family here," she told Fox News Digital after the show's premiere.

While Alec was absent from the crowd last week, the two remain committed to cheering each other on.

"So, Alec is doing a movie right now," she said. "He's doing a movie, he's doing a show, he's been traveling so much… we're juggling."

"We had a certain plan to be in New York right now and then all of a sudden the universe opened, and I was offered this incredible experience. And so I packed up all the kids and in a day. I signed the contract to do ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in between landing and getting our luggage. This has been a really wild whirlwind that I'm so grateful for, and it's imposed some shifting," she continued.

"So it means that we're not always going to be together because he had committed to some jobs. But he'll come as much as he can and my kids are here to represent and cheer from the crowd," she added.

Actress and activist Jane Fonda said Democratic Party leaders are "not good enough" while promoting her relaunch of the Committee for the First Amendment during an appearance on CNN Wednesday.

The committee was originally founded by members of the entertainment industry in the 1940s as a way to push back against Hollywood blacklisting during the McCarthy era. Fonda, whose father, Henry Fonda, was an original member, told CNN’s Dana Bash she hoped to revive that same spirit of unity against President Donald Trump.

"No president has ever sent troops into the Democratic cities across the country saying full force," Fonda said.

"No president, as far as I know, has tried to control the Federal Reserve, the central bank. He is amassing power in a way that will destroy our democracy. And so we‘re going to stand up. We‘re creatives. We‘re storytellers. We can do it creatively. We can have a good time while we do it."

Fonda said her group grew rapidly after launching earlier that day, adding she is also focused on electing new Democratic leaders.

"We‘re going to have a good group, and we‘re going to have fun doing it," Fonda said. "But I also have a PAC, a climate PAC that elects people all over the country because I don‘t feel that our leaders are doing what they need to do. And if you can‘t change the people, change the people. That‘s what we‘re doing."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Democratic National Committee for comment.

According to the committee’s website, nearly 600 Hollywood stars and filmmakers have joined in support, including Natalie Portman, Aaron Sorkin, Spike Lee, Viola Davis, Pedro Pascal, Ben Stiller, Whoopi Goldberg, Sean Penn, John Legend, Damon Lindelof, Julianne Moore, Barbra Streisand, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ethan Hawke and Rosie O’Donnell.

In a statement, Fonda highlighted the importance of standing against what she called the "forces of repression" in the federal government and its "coordinated campaign to silence critics."

"We know there is power in solidarity and strength in numbers," the statement read. "We will stand together — fiercely united — to defend free speech and expression from this assault. This is not a partisan issue. That is why we urge every American who cares about the First Amendment — the cornerstone of our democracy — and every artist around the globe who looks to the United States as a beacon of freedom to join us.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/johnson-accuses-schumer-blocking-real-discussion-keep-government-open https://www.foxnews.com/politics/johnson-accuses-schumer-blocking-real-discussion-keep-government-open Johnson accuses Schumer of blocking ‘real discussion’ to keep government open House Republicans and Senate Democrats remain deadlocked over government funding, and Speaker Mike Johnson criticized Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's political calculations.

EXCLUSIVE: Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is accusing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., of refusing to vote to end the government shutdown to kowtow to his left-wing base.

Johnson told Fox News Digital in a sit-down interview that Democrats’ refusal to budge on their current position came up in an hour-long call with President Donald Trump Wednesday afternoon.

"[Trump is] very bothered by that, that Chuck Schumer would do this, Democrats would do this, because we haven't," the top House Republican said.

He noted that Democrats had voted on a similar measure to what Republicans are offering on 13 different occasions under former President Joe Biden.

SOCIAL SECURITY, AIRPORTS, FOOD STAMPS: HOW ARE YOU AFFECTED DURING A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN?

"And even when the Republicans were in the minority, we did the right thing to keep the government open. And we fully expected that Schumer would do that again, as he always has, but not this time," Johnson said.

"This is a selfish political calculation he's made, that he's got to prove to the far left that he's going to fight Trump or something. So, we talked about our frustration with that."

He said Trump appeared "happy" that Republicans remain unified in their federal funding stance but was concerned about the effects of a prolonged shutdown on everyday Americans.

REPUBLICANS ERUPT OVER SHUTDOWN CHAOS, ACCUSE DEMS OF HOLDING GOVERNMENT ‘HOSTAGE’

"But the reason we're happy about that is because we know we're doing the right thing for the American people," Johnson said. "And Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are demonstrating that they are willing to inflict this pain upon the people for their own political purposes. And I think that is a tough thing for them to get over."

He said of a meeting between congressional leaders and Trump that occurred Monday: "I tried my best in the White House, and he just is in no mood to have a real discussion about these issues. So, we are where we are."

Senate Democrats have now rejected a GOP-led plan to fund federal agencies through Nov. 21 three times.

The measure is called a continuing resolution (CR) and is aimed at buying House and Senate negotiators more time to reach a deal on fiscal year 2026 federal funding priorities.

The CR would keep current federal funding levels roughly flat while adding an extra $88 million in security spending for lawmakers, the White House and the judicial branch.

Democrats, furious at being largely sidelined in funding discussions, have signaled they would not accept any bill that does not also extend Obamacare tax subsidies that were enhanced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those enhanced subsidies are due to expire at the end of this year.

But Johnson, who called the Obamacare subsidies an "end-of-year issue," argued that the bill was a simple extension of federal funding, leaving Republicans with no realistic path for concessions.

"If it was not clean and simple, if I had loaded it up with a bunch of Republican partisan priorities, then there would be something for us to negotiate. I could take those things off and offer it again. I sent it over with nothing attached at all," he said.

"It quite literally is just buying us time to finish the appropriations process, which was being done in a bipartisan manner. So, I don't have anything to give, there's nothing I can give. And Chuck Schumer has made such outrageous counter-demands and proposals that he's the one that has to come to his senses."

He was referring to Democrats’ counter-proposal for a CR, which would have repealed the Medicaid reforms made in Republicans' One Big, Beautiful Bill, while restoring funding for NPR and PBS that was cut by the Trump administration earlier this year.

Fox News Digital reached out to Schumer’s office for a response but did not hear back by press time.

The Cleveland Browns are turning to rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel this week against the Minnesota Vikings in London, as head coach Kevin Stefanski shakes things up already at the position following a 1-3 start.

It’s a move that the 40-year-old veteran appeared blindsided by.

"Listen, I think I said it on Sunday, anytime you’re in this league, everybody’s always getting evaluated," Flacco said, via Pro Football Talk. "The job of the quarterback is to help your team win football games. So, I don’t know if I foresaw it coming, but listen, me and Kevin can have a good conversation. It’s not like anything that was super long or drawn out like that. But, got to the point, had a good conversation about it, and it is what it is."

Flacco will move to QB2, backing up Gabriel in London, while Shedeur Sanders, the fellow rookie of Gabriel, remains third on the depth chart.

While all talk was on the two rookies taken in the 2025 NFL Draft, especially after Sanders was taken in the fifth round in shocking fashion, Stefanski made it clear in training camp that Flacco was the starter after going through practices.

SHEDEUR SANDERS GOES SILENT, PANTOMIMES ANSWERS WHEN ASKED ABOUT BROWNS THIRD-STRING QUARTERBACK ROLE

But through four games this season, Flacco has thrown just two touchdowns to six interceptions, completing only 58.1% of his passes in the process. As a result, the Browns’ offense is averaging just 14 points per game.

Now, serving as a backup isn’t what Flacco had in mind, but he’s ready to help Gabriel in any way possible.

"I think the best way to help him is continue to come to work with a good mindset every day and provide that positive energy and see what he needs on his end," Flacco explained. "Listen, he’s into it, man. He’s ready to go. I’m sure he’s super excited about this opportunity. You can tell he takes it seriously just by the way he studies and his intent in the meeting rooms and on the practice field."

Flacco rejoined the Browns this season, the same team he miraculously took to the 2023 playoffs which earned him the Comeback Player of the Year award. He’s a Super Bowl winner in the AFC North, though with the Baltimore Ravens, where he spent most of his career.

Given his pedigree, Flacco is disappointed in how he’s performed to start the season despite being ready if necessary in a backup role.

"I think every situation is unique," he said. "And I think you do get emotional about it, so it’s tough to, in the moment, draw on those experiences."

Flacco will be on the sideline watching as Gabriel takes on the Vikings, who fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland in Week 4, 24-21.

Syracuse basketball legend Lawrence Moten has died at 53.

Moten’s daughter, Lawrencia, confirmed his death on Tuesday, saying he was found in his Washington, D.C., home.

"Lawrence Moten was a Syracuse icon," the school’s athletic director, John Wildhack, said in a statement. "His accolades as Syracuse’s all-time leading scorer and holding the Big East scoring record for 25 years speak for themselves, but his style of play is what energized the Dome and was deserving of his nickname, ‘Poetry in Moten.’

"He was a fixture around the program long after his playing career, always with a smile on his face. We extend our thoughts and prayers to Lawrence’s family and friends. He will be Forever Orange."

Moten played for the Orange from 1991 to 1995, and remains the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,334 career points. He averaged 19.3 points per game during his four years leading the Orange on the hardwood.

Moten’s impact came at a time when Syracuse was under NCAA investigation, but he remained committed to the program. He averaged 18.2 points as a freshman, helping Syracuse reach the 1992 NCAA Tournament.

The team wasn’t able to qualify for March Madness the next season, as the NCAA investigation led to a one-year tournament ban. Yet Moten stayed and went on to lead the Orange back to the tournament in 1994 and 1995, with the latter season earning him second-team All-America honors.

Moten’s style of play, described as smooth and effortless, led to his iconic "Poetry in Moten" nickname that Orange fans embraced.

Moten went on to play professionally after being drafted in the second round of the 1995 NBA Draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies. He spent two seasons with the club before signing with the Washington Wizards in 1998.

He also played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and the American Basketball Association (ABA) through 2006. His career also included overseas stops in Spain and Venezuela.

After retiring, Moten returned to the Syracuse area to work with youth groups in the city’s school district.

Later, he continued shaping the next generation of basketball players in his hometown of Washington, D.C., serving as general manager of the boys and girls teams at Digital Pioneers Academy.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On Wednesday, City Council members heard expert testimonies regarding the state of homelessness in Rochester.

"As a city legislator, it's my responsibility to try to get all sides of an issue and try to come up with the best path forward," Rochester City Council President Miguel A. Meléndez Jr., said.

Meléndez Jr., along with Councilwoman Kim Smith, heard testimonies from local non-profit and advocacy center representatives speaking on the issue of homelessness and potential solutions. One representative stated the homelessness epidemic is, quote, “not a failure of our people, but a failure of our system.”

“Homelessness is a growing challenge in our city," Meléndez said. "There's been a lot of conversations about what and how we should be addressing the issue. Today was really about understanding the landscape, what is happening, what our organizations are doing or the nonprofits doing, and what our residents are experiencing. Just to have a more thorough and robust understanding of the problem.”

In Rochester, the number of recorded homeless residents has tripled since last year. These numbers don’t include residents living in cars or couch surfing.

“How we count homelessness is also a bit problematic," Executive Director of the Father Tracy Advocacy Center, Beatriz LeBron, said. "And so there are a number of people experiencing homelessness who are also employed, who have families, and never go through systems for services or support, who are living out of their car. ”

LeBron touched on several challenges the average homeless resident faces daily, including separation from family, encampment sweeps, and the difficulty of getting support.

“There are a lot of barriers that people don't understand," she said. "How difficult it is to access a government benefit, and in 2025, we're living in a world full of misinformation. But I just want to point out for the record that in this county, you have to be eligible. And being homeless is not the only eligibility requirement.”

LeBron noted the differences between her organization and others, despite all working toward the same cause. She was shocked, however, to learn that while each organization differed, they faced very similar struggles and brought forth similar testimonies.

"I was really surprised by that, that even though all of us in this phase, we did not coordinate any talking points, we all organically came up with our own based on our own lived experiences with our centers and our agencies, and we all sort of landed around the same thing," she said. "And it's obvious that the systems have to change."

Next steps for City Hall include on-the-ground surveying of residents and writing a report, which they hope to complete by the end of the season.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after police said he crashed a stolen vehicle into another car Wednesday afternoon in Rochester.

Just after 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Epworth Street and Dr. Samuel McCree Way for a crash. According to investigators, four teens were driving recklessly in a stolen Kia Sportage, including through school ballfields.

Police said the Kia was traveling the wrong way on Epworth Street when it struck another vehicle head-on at the intersection.

The 16-year-old driver of the Kia, a city resident, was trapped in the SUV and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening upper-body injuries.

The Kia’s three passengers, a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl — ran from the scene but were quickly detained. The 15-year-old boy and girl were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the 14-year-old was unhurt.

The two occupants of the other vehicle, a man and a woman, both city residents, were also hospitalized for complaints of pain.

Police added that a pedestrian was struck during the crash but was not injured and declined treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Families can now apply for college financial aid for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The Rochester Education Foundation (REF) continues to make it easier for students to pursue their next steps.

The FAFSA process has become more streamlined in the last few years after corrections were made to technical errors, which led to a backlog of applications nationwide.

"Even though there is no time constraint, the earlier the better. You maximize how much aid you can get by getting it done earlier," said Phil Hounshell, director of college access and success for the Rochester Education Foundation.

REF's directors meet with city and charter school students and counselors weekly to help them navigate the process.

"Just because you live in this particular neighborhood doesn’t mean you can't go off to college and see other things. I feel like it's an opportunity for our kids to live outside their current environments and see that there are other opportunities out there," said Tawana Jackson, assistant director of college access and success for the Rochester Education Foundation.

New this year, REF has introduced a position designed to help bridge the gap for Spanish-speaking students.

"It’s the opportunity to give black and brown students the opportunity to move forward and go in a better direction. They have a lot of things out there pulling them in all different directions. Our organization has the opportunity to right that ship. That’s what we do, and we do it in español as well," said Rob Peña, bilingual college access navigator for the Rochester Education Foundation.

Leaders continue to encourage parents and students to apply for federal financial aid early.

"The government is only allowed to allocate so many funds to education and once they dry up, even if you deserve it, it might not be available for you," said Hounshell.

More information about the resources made available by REF can be found here.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) — Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma posted on X a picture of a New York Commercial Driver's License with information redacted.

He said, “If New York wants to hand out CDLs to illegal immigrants, with “No Name Given” that’s on them. The moment they cross into Oklahoma, they answer to our laws.”

He went on to say that 125 illegal immigrants were apprehended along I-40.

New York State Republicans have criticized New York State’s Greenlight law, allowing New Yorkers 16 and older to apply for standard drivers licenses regardless of their citizenship.

However, according to the New York State DMV, the driver's license referenced by the Oklahoma Governor was not issued under the Green Light law. The DMV added that it’s also not uncommon for people from other countries to have only one name and cited a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services policy manual.

The New York State DMV statement said in-part, "This commercial driver’s license was issued in accordance with all proper procedures, including verification of the individual’s identity through federally issued documentation. The individual has lawful status in the United States through a federal employment authorization and was issued a license consistent with federal guidelines.”

Republican Assemblyman Robert Smullen shared his thoughts on the DMV’s statement.

"I don’t know if that’s the case," said Smullen. "Apparently, this person had some sort of status as an asylum seeker and those rules changed actually from the previous administration to the current administration. I think New York should be complying with current federal guidelines because this has to do with interstate commerce."

During the interview, Smullen went on to say, "We want transparency and everyone who is given a New York State drivers license is done so in accordance with New York State law, but also with the federal guidelines and regulations to keep all of our citizens safe."

We reached out to Oklahoma Governor’s Office for a statement, but have not yet gotten a response.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Flu season is here, and the New York State Department of Health is urging New Yorkers to get vaccinated as new data shows severe pediatric illness and death due to the flu.

The great Spanish Influenza outbreak of 1918 through 1920 led to the deaths of at least 50 million people, maybe more—it's named the deadliest pandemic in history.

In 2025, we have numerous measures in place to prevent and treat the influenza virus. However, according to new data from the CDC, during the last flu season, there were 109 reports of IAE (influenza-associated encephalopathy) in children reported nationwide, of which 37 (34%) were categorized as ANE (acute necrotizing encephalopathy), one of the most severe forms of the flu that affects children.

In New York alone, 13 suspected cases of IAE and ANE were reported. Sadly, three of these cases resulted in death, of the 26 total flu-related pediatric deaths statewide. Among the 13 suspected cases associated with IAE and ANE in New York, nine were children who did not receive a yearly flu vaccine (one was ineligible).

Data shows that flu-related pediatric deaths have been increasing over the past years. In the 2021-22 season, there were three deaths; in the 2022-23 season, there were 14; and in the 2023-24 season, 20 deaths were reported. Most recently, 26 deaths in the 2024-25 season.

“The seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to protect against these tragedies and is the best measure of protection for babies and young children who are vulnerable to severe pediatric-related illnesses caused by the flu,” State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said. “As we head into the respiratory season this fall, the 2025-2026 flu vaccine is widely available. I encourage all New Yorkers to either make an appointment with a provider or stop by your local pharmacy to get vaccinated and enjoy the peace of mind that you and your family and loved ones are protected.”

The flu vaccine remains available to New Yorkers aged two and older at pharmacies and is the best defense against serious illness for everybody. Children 6 months and older can receive one at a doctor's office.

The vaccine is now available at all Wegmans Pharmacy locations without an appointment, as well as at CVS, Tops, and Walgreens, where it is recommended to call ahead, as appointments may be needed.

The vaccine is typically covered by most insurance plans at no additional cost; individuals are advised to bring their insurance card to vaccination appointments. It is recommended to get vaccinated by the end of October.

Find a vaccination location here. More information about Influenza here.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, News 8 is proud to share the stories, traditions, and voices that help shape our community.

Watch our Hispanic Heritage 2025 Special, celebrating culture, resilience, and contributions that continue to make a lasting impact here in Rochester and beyond.

We began with a look into the life of Rochester's Julio Vazquez. He's been an agitator, educator, community advocate, small business owner, and CEO. He said his life's calling is about serving others in Rochester. Theresa Marsenburg tells his story.

Another name well known in the Latino community is Father Tracy. A priest in several different local Catholic churches throughout the decades, Laurence Tracy dedicated his life to helping people in need.

Beatriz LeBron runs the Father Tracy Advocacy Center and talked to News 8's Adam Chodak about how people honor him years after his passing.

Nestled in the heart of Rochester's South Wedge, there's a hidden gem where stories go beyond the page.

At Hipocampo Children's Books, it's not just about reading, it's about identity, culture, and celebrating voices from all around the world.

Our Andie Velez stopped by to experience how this bookstore is inspiring young readers and building community... one story at a time.

They're known for their old school Salsa sound, this month Rochester's own Orquesta la Muralla is back with their fourth album.

And eight of the nine tunes on the album are songs by Johnny Vega. At 82, the salsa icon is still commanding large audiences, especially in Columbia.

And lastly, in a city with a rich tapestry of voices, rhythms, and cultural stories, Thalia Pabon is carving out her own.

Best known as a Puerto Rican‐born local business owner, Thalia is preparing to unveil her first solo album: a collection she hopes will affirm identity, explore her roots, and re-imagine what modern Latin music can be. Andie Velez shared her story.

NEWARK, N.Y. (WROC) — A massive police presence is underway in the area of East Union Street and Cuyler Street in Newark after a man was arrested yesterday in a homicide investigation.

According to the Newark Police Department, an investigation alongside New York State Police began after an individual called and reported that they had overheard a conversation "indicating that an individual had been killed and the body disposed of in the Sodus area."

During the investigation, officers located a suspect, identified as 35-year-old Jared C. Nesmith, walking in the area. Nesmith is said to have attempted to flee from police on foot, but was quickly taken into custody and transported to the Newark Police Department for questioning.

Police say that during the interview, information was obtained that a body had been transported to Zurich Bog Trail. The New York State Police K9 Unit then responded to the area and was able to recover the remains.

Zurick Bog Trail

On Wednesday, multiple police vehicles and officers can be seen near the Byrne-Dairy. Part of the roadway is blocked off by patrol cars and police tape as they investigate a home confirmed by police to be connected to the homicide investigation.

Nesmith has been charged with murder in the second degree, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. He is currently being held without bail after an arraignment at the Wayne County Jail.

The investigation remains active.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — New York State Police provided an update on a 2011 cold case on October 1, 2025.

On December 13, 2021, the remains of an unidentified person were found by DOT workers in a culvert under State Route 36 in Dansville.

In 2023, the skeletal remains were identified through DNA technology as Doh Soe, born in 1987. He was later connected to a missing persons case from Rochester.

Doh was first reported missing in 2011. They say he went missing without a trace after his regular shift at work.

Doh Soe was a Burmese refugee who immigrated here in 2008. He lived in an apartment on Alexander Street in Rochester, owned a 2000 Chevy Lumina, and worked at Wegmans Next Door in Pittsford as a chef.

Before he went missing, Doh bought a new phone at Greece Ridge Mall. Police hope that locating this phone will provide crucial information to "close the circle."

They say that they are sure that Doh's body was hidden in the culvert; therefore, police are treating this case as a homicide. Any accident has been ruled out.

Investigators say they have significant leads but would not divulge information about whether there are suspects.

They do not know how Doh got to Dansville, since his car was initially found at his apartment. The DA says he was known to frequent spots in Rochester, including the
Jones Pond Men’s only campground in Angelia - near where his remains were found.

Investigators say that the most important thing they need right now is information about Doh before he went missing. If anyone has any information related to him, no matter how small, they are asked to contact 607-225-5400.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — So, as we've heard air travel travel might be impacted because TSA workers on the job without collecting a paycheck might start calling in sick, due to the government shutdown.

But, Nazareth Professor Tim Kneeland told News 8's Adam Chodak during an interview, other forms of travel might be impacted especially in our area.

Plus, he says, services could drop out in unexpected places.

"There are some health care subsidies that are not part of your package, those could be withheld which would could affect the citizens of the state of New York," Kneeland said. "Again, trying to cross the border into the Canada, you have these essentials workers who are not being paid, that could affect how many lanes are open, could lead to delays, it could lead to delays in moving goods back and forth across the border so yeah, I think our region is going to feel the pinch, maybe not immediately but certainly within the next 7-10 days."

In the interview with Professor Kneeland, I ask him to look into his crystal ball and predict which side will break first.

His answer and the whole interview starts streaming at 8 p.m. Wednesday on the RochesterFirst streaming app — available for download on Roku, Fire, and Apple TV.

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Happy October! It is chilly to start this month, but sunshine makes it feel not so bad. Temperatures are stuck in the 50s and lower 60s.

Clear and calm into Thursday will mean temperatures into the 30s and some patchy fog and/or frost at higher elevations across the Adirondacks and Southern Tier. There are some Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings for some across New York State.

The sun emerges and we get near 70 degrees.

The high pressure bubble settles off the coast of Long Island Friday. This brings back the southwest flow and temperatures respond accordingly. Friday gets to the middle 70s and Saturday into the 80s. Clouds may increase a bit, but no rain comes. The 80s last both Sunday and Monday before coming back down with a potential cold front Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - As colder weather approaches and sickness spreads more rapidly, national and local medical experts are researching a dramatic increase in a unique type of drug-resistant bacteria across the U.S.

NDM-CREs, scientifically referred to as New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-producing carbapenem resistant enterobacterales, are resistant to even the strongest-grade antibiotics used to treat infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections and wounds.

Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at URMC's Center for Community Health and Prevention Dr. Brenda Tesini has assisted in monitoring local NDM-CRE-related cases for nearly a decade.

"We hadn't found [any local cases] until 2021, now we have less than 10 cases a year which we identify through public health surveillance," Dr. Tesini said.

A recent report released by the CDC shows that nationally, the number of NDM-CRE related cases have increased by more than 460% since 2019. Although Dr. Tesini says these bacteria are still considered rare in Monroe County, she explained how they can spread quickly.

"In our community, we're seeing cases in people with ties to travel and people in healthcare facilities such as hospitals and long-term care facilities where they may be more likely to encounter it," Dr. Tesini said.

Due to the difficulty in treating NDM-CRE related illnesses, the CDC advises there is a high mortality rate associated with cases in which it's detected. Those who are considered at higher risk for contracting NDM-CRE related infections include those who frequently take antibiotics or have weakened immune systems.

Like most other bacterial infections, Dr. Tesini says washing your hands regularly can prevent the spread of NDM-CREs. She also explained what she says is one of the most important preventative tips for these types of bacteria specifically.

"Only take antibiotics when they're really needed and indicated," Dr. Tesini said. "Work with your physician or healthcare provider to make sure you're taking the right antibiotic."

Dr. Tesini plans to continue working alongside researchers to learn more about NDM-CREs and how they can be treated as both bacteria and medicine evolve.

"The reason we're so concerned about [NDM-CREs] is because of the very limited treatment options should someone get an infection with it," Dr. Tesini said.

The full report released by the CDC on NDM-CREs can be found here.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A candlelight vigil was held in Rochester by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to honor the victims of a deadly church attack in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

The vigil, held on Tuesday, was a new initiative for the Rochester congregation, inspired by the need to show solidarity with those affected by the violence and to condemn attacks on houses of worship.

"This is just a way to honor and connect and show some solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Michigan right now," said Cary Jensen, a member of the church.

The attack in Grand Blanc occurred during a church service, a time when congregants were communing with God, which made the incident particularly horrifying for those involved.

Investigators reported that the gunman, a 40-year-old former Marine, drove his pickup truck into the chapel and began shooting.

The attacker died during a gunfire exchange with police, and eight other people were injured in the Sunday morning attack.

The Rochester community's vigil reflects a broader call for peace and solidarity in the face of violence against places of worship.

Une femme a perdu la vie ce mercredi matin, après avoir chuté sur les rails du métro marseillais. Après une longue interruption de la ligne entre Périer et Dromel, la circulation a partiellement repris.

L'alerte a sonné à 8h30.

Commemoration of November 11, 2024

Updated on
07/11/2024

On the occasion of the ceremony of November 11, please find below the message from Mr. Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces, and Mr. Jean-Louis Thieriot, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans.

It was 106 years ago, in 1918. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, from the mud of Flanders to the Swiss border, the bugles play the notes of the "ceasefire". The pride of victory is mixed with the procession of shadows of the "dead in the earth", accompanied by those who mourn them. These are the sacrifices that we commemorate today, to which have been added since 2012 that of all those who “died for France”.

To honour their memory is to listen to what they still tell us today.

They leave us a duty of gratitude, lucidity and hope.

The duty of gratitude is quite simply to remember the sacrifice of these young men, filled with the promises of life, who agreed to give everything so that France would remain. The trials they went through are unimaginable.

To immerse ourselves in them, let us give the floor to a witness, General de Castelnau. Their life was “to walk, to walk again, to walk all the same, half-dead with fatigue, soaked to the bone, frozen with cold or exhausted with heat and thirst in the burning air of a torrid day (…). Climb the slope of the terrain under the heavy burden of the sack, charge with bayonets to the cannon in the whistling of bullets, the crackle of machine guns and the roar of shells. Fight during the day, fight at night, always watch; die obscurely in the furrow of a ploughed field".

The duty of lucidity is not to forget that 21 years after the cannons had fallen silent, it was necessary to take up arms again in 1939. The combination of cowardice and blindness transformed the "war to end all wars" into a "twenty-year armistice" to use the words of Marshal Foch. At a time when the tragedy of war has made its grand return to Europe, at a time when certain powers are calling into question all the foundations of order and international law, those of 14 and those of all wars whisper to us to continue to defend peace.

The duty of hope is to never doubt France's resources to overcome the challenges that face it. War changes face, but from generation to generation, the soldiers of France remain driven by the same desire to defend honor and the homeland.

In this year of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, let us remember the soldiers of the Kieffer commando who set foot on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944; let us remember the soldiers of the 1st Army of Lattre who landed in Provence; those of the 2nd Armored Division of General Leclerc who from the desert, in Kouffra, went up to Strasbourg to liberate it and fulfill their oath; Let us remember the heroes of the internal resistance, but also the ordeal of the forced conscripts of Alsace-Moselle, let us remember the courage of the Dien Bien Phu paratroopers, that of the soldiers who fight in external operations and in particular those of Lebanon who have been defending peace there since 1978: how can we not see that these fighters resemble like brothers the Poilus of 1914?

Throughout our history, the soldiers who died for France, those who fell for the service of the Nation, or for the service of the Republic tell us of the French longevity. Our armies are always there to accomplish the mission.

This is why, gathered at the foot of the war memorial, elected officials, veterans of all generations of fire, school children, we are not only the guard of the dead, we are first and foremost the sentinels of the living.

Long live the Republic!

And long live France!
